Located in the village of Pinnawala, approximately 10 km northwest of Kegalle, this 25-acre facility is home to the largest herd of captive elephants in the world, with over 70 individuals. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage operates daily from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with key activities scheduled throughout the day. Milk feeding for baby elephants occurs at 9:15 AM, 1:15 PM, and 5:00 PM, while the herd is taken to the nearby Maha Oya River for bathing sessions at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
